Submission for KnotsSG manga competition

Knots SG was having a competition based on manga art, and this was my submission. The theme was "Bonds that last". Mahou shoujo being an iconic part of manga art, I designed Tsuna (meaning bond), a ribbon dancing magical girl. She uses the red string of fate to help create bonds that last with her orca pet North. (orcas spend their whole lives with family).

Her colour scheme was inspired by UHU glue yellow, and her headbands and earrings are magnets to symbolise the theme of bonds. Also, the sequins adorning her leotard are designed to resemble magnetic fields. I also incorporated infinity symbols (the idea of everlasting) on the strap across her chest as well as on her shoes.

The overall design of the piece was meant to resemble manga covers, to fit the theme of the contest.
